Hey everybody, I thought that instead of just putting up a notice, and telling everyone to check it out in a couple weeks, i'd throw you a bone, and give a little sneak peak.
Make sure you all check back on March 15th, when I will have sustained updates.
Marijuana Legalization?!
As you have probably heard about, California is facing terrible economic problems. This is a result of their resistance to any sort of conservative policy. Enacting the ideas of liberals has lead California into a failed socialist state. But now, for the first time in a while, California’s liberal policy might actually make a positive impact.
For a while now, many people have been ignoring the economic benefits of legalizing marijuana. The nationwide economic downturn has not been enough to change public opinion about this issue, but the massive deficit in California is topping $40 billion. The state literally does not have the money to give tax returns to their taxpayers, and has issued IOU’s.
California has been tinkering around with the idea of legalization for a while now, and this seems like it’s the final nail in the coffin. With the policies of many other U.S. states moving away from marijuana prohibition, this could be the first real victory for the cause. It really wouldn’t take much to reset the laws, and probably for good.
If you look back at what it was that lead out nation into marijuana prohibition, you’ll that there were a few small things over time that brought it on. First off, William Hearst, a major newspaper mogul of the time, has a large amount invested in paper. He owned plants that processed paper from trees, and the hemp fiber of the marijuana plant was a big threat. Throughout history, the Hemp fiber has outshined other fibers in nearly every field. Hemp can be used for just about anything, and it was a great alternative to wood pulp in the paper.
Since Hearst’s empire was built on the media, he was able to use this advantage to hurt the cannabis plant. The word “marijuana” itself is Spanish, and the reason we use this word today is because the media associated foreigners from Mexico with crime and marijuana use. The reason marijuana was legalized was for the economic gain of a few, and this didn’t stop for 70 years now. Those people are long gone.
Now we are considering resetting the switch, and the chances are, if we legalize, it will take another force like this to take it back underground.
